Change the World Through Teaching
Some are born to educate and have a knack for connecting with and engaging those around them. If you dream of making a lifelong impact on others through teaching, the Hochberg-Miniaci Razor’s Edge Shark Teach Scholars Program at Nova Southeastern University is designed for you.
Best of all, as a Shark Teach Scholar, you'll receive a $25,000 scholarship to help you concentrate more on dominating the education sector and less on paying back your student loans. Scholars within the Razor's Edge program are required to live on campus during their freshman and sophomore year, but are given the option to opt-out of university housing during their junior and senior year.

Through Shark Teach, I hold the position of Writing Consultant and Fellow at NSU's Writing and Communication Center, which has helped to prepare me for a future in teaching Secondary English. What Can You Gain as a Razor’s Edge Shark Teach Scholar?
Program and Minor Requirements
To get hands-on experience in teaching, you’re required to work up to 10 hours a week as a tutor, supplemental instruction leader, writing consultant, or peer leader in the UNIV 1000 course. Students are assigned positions as early as the winter semester of their first year and work for a minimum of three semesters.
As student leaders in The Fischler Academy, Razor's Edge Shark Teach students must
remain active members of The Fischler Academy all times, and remain an education major,
to maintain the scholarship and status as a Razor's Edge Shark Teach Scholars Program
student.
Razor's Edge Shark Teach students must actively participate in a Fischler Academy
approved committee of their choice for a minimum of four semesters.
At the start of their second year in the program, Razor's Edge Shark Teach students
are required to select and serve in one of the following roles:
Community Outreach Representative
This role engages Razor's Edge Shark Teach scholars in a variety of service-based
projects and program initiatives. Students who select this option should be prepared
to organize, assist with, or participate in both formal and informal events throughout
the NSU community and South Florida. Examples of events include but are not limited
to the following: Shark Preview Weekends, Community Fest, Sharkapalooza, alumni outreach
events, and presentations at local schools. Community Outreach Representatives are
expected to actively participate in at least two role specific events per semester.
Completion of all role requirements will be documented using a combination of sign
in sheets and reflective forms. All students accepted into the Razor's Edge Shark
Teach program are eligible to select this role.
Tutor, SI Leader, or Academic Success Coach
These roles are a great fit for students interested in working in NSU Florida's Tutoring
and Testing Center. As a tutor, SI leader, or Academic Success Coach, students have
the opportunity to connect with their peers and assist them in meeting their academic
goals. This role requires an additional interview with NSU Florida's Tutoring and
Testing Center. Shark Teach scholars will serve in their approved role for a minimum
of six hours per week for tutors/Academic Success Coaches and eight hours per week
for SI Leaders.
