Program Overview

The Dual Admission Law program leads to a bachelor’s degree and a Juris Doctor (J.D.).  After students successfully complete the undergraduate degree program requirements, they will enter the professional degree program after three or four years of undergraduate study.

The law school dual admission program is available to students in all undergraduate majors. Undergraduate students should choose courses that will strengthen and hone their skills in three areas essential for success in law study:

1) the ability to read complex material with a high level of understanding;

2) the ability to think and reason logically and analytically; and

3) the ability to communicate effectively, particularly in written work.

Graduate Admission Requirements

Keep your dual admission status while you earn your bachelor’s.

Dual Admission reserves your seat in NSU’s Juris Doctor Program, but you must still complete a graduate application once you finish your bachelor’s degree.

Keep in mind that these are the basic requirements, and final determination of admission into the professional program is at the discretion of the School of Law.

Degree Required
For the 3+3 program, a degree is not required prior to transitioning to the graduate program. For the 4+3 program, you must complete a bachelor's degree. Additional prerequisites may be communicated upon admission.
Required Test Scores
LSAT: You must earn a 151 or higher whether you are in the six- or seven-year program.
Undergraduate GPA

For all Dual Admission Law programs you must maintain a 3.4 cumulative GPA. Calculation of cumulative GPA for the purpose of program eligibility for dual admission will not reflect the "grade forgiveness/repeated courses" policy; all grades for retaken courses will be included.

Credits Required
For the six-year track, 90 major and general education credits must be completed.

Additional Requirements

College credits that were earned through advanced high school programs such as AP, IB or college academy—or in summer coursework following high school graduation, prior to attending NSU—may transfer to NSU.

Students who enter NSU with earned college credits through advanced high school programs may be able to complete their degree and program requirements earlier than scheduled and request to enter their graduate professional programs earlier as well.

Please contact your admissions representative for more details regarding high school transfer credits.
